Through The Telescope
Thursday April 15, 2021
Time: 8:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: The Blue Mountains Public Library Zoom.
The weather is warming, and the Earth has moved in its orbit around the Sun since we last looked through the telescope, so we have different objects in our night sky for Spring. Springtime in The Blue Mountains means it is galaxy season, and there are galaxies galore in our skies right now. Join Ian Wheelband of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada as we share the night sky through the telescope. Ian will use his telescope and video camera to share online live views. Learn about the Spring constellations, learn what a galaxy is and what it is like to live in a galaxy, and learn about the different types of galaxies we can see. This is a rain or shine event, and Ian will be under a different sky than the library so it may be clear for him and cloudy at the library. We have prerecorded video and images of galaxies should we have clouds.
All ages. Pre-Registration required.
You will need a computer or laptop with a web camera, or a tablet or smart phone to participate in this event. Once registered, you will be sent a Zoom Meeting ID and password to attend this program.
